Success
It
is some ten years ago that 3S Simons Security Systems

provides unequivocal evidence of product authenticity
in courts. The company has recently rebranded itself
and the product range, extended the use of Secutags
into the logistics market and is poised for a major
drive for international sales. Authentication News
spoke to Sales Manager Angelina Rayak to find out

Pharmaceutical
piracy: Tracking and Tracing and Anti-Counterfeiting
It
is estimated that in 2010, counterfeit drug sales will
reach 75 billion US dollars globally, an increase of
more than 90 percent from 2005. This figure is highly
alarming. But most worryingly, we must realise that
this is no long-term prediction anymore. The pharmaceutical
industry, politics, organisations and associations
not only need to get plans going for an effective protection
of medical products – a prompt implementation
is also necessary as soon as possible […]

Pharmaceutical
piracy: too dangerous to be ignored
The
OECD estimates that the total sales generated worldwide
with counterfeited products are about US $200 billion.
This amount corresponds to approximately 2% of the
international trade, or to the GDP of 150 countries.
The German CCI reports that, in Germany alone, product
piracy has caused economic damage of €20 to 30
billion. The dark figure is even higher. The increase
of the global piracy of pharmaceutical and body care
products is especially alarming, since these products
present a potential danger to the health of consumers.
Besides political initiatives and legal measures against
counterfeiting, product traceability and effective
product security are becoming more and more important
[…]

Size, Large Impact
The
product protection system SECUTAG® marks originals
as forgery proof
Brand piracy is no small offence. The counterfeit trade causes immense
economic damages and is increasingly endangering customers and users.
The challenge for the government and economy is enormous. On one side,
it is important to strictly confine the counterfeit market through legal
measures. However, effective product protection is steadily becoming
the focus of corporate trade […]
